Fond my old collection of botanical postage stamps.
Floral botanical postage stamps are a collection of stamps from Southeast Asia created in 2015 commissioned by the Colombian Consulate in Indonesia to connect the artistry of Colombia with the local nature of the Area. Postage stamps has always been a fascination for Herrera. She has been collecting them for years, looking at them like little windows of the world. Living in a country like Colombia for so many years, made her naturally fall in love an appreciate every detail of nature, colours, shapes and patterns. These stamps are part of a series of her early paper collage work, where she became an expert at cutting with the blade and creating layers and compositions with the material. Her aim with these series of stamps was to be able to reconnect this art form with the public in a more contemporary way, since most of these stamps are not in circulation anymore, but the art that goes into them is so detailed and beautiful, that she wanted to bring a new experience by enlarging these miniature illustrations by adding bright colours, layers and texture., just like real flowers.
