I have love cats for a long time, I love their colours, their features and character. This year, I been trying to work with new subjects to show some diversity in my work. When approaching cats it is often difficult to translate them to 3d form, so I decided that a layered 2d cut out will serve as a good technique because it could keep the composition tidy and in place while adding some depth.
I was inspired by old stone carvings from ancient cultures in Europe, specially lions and cats. I found these carvings very interesting since the way they depicted nature in those days reflect on the culture and traditions.
